Senior Shoot Time!

March 30, 2013

It just can’t be that time of year again!

For those of you who are experiencing your first child  going off to college, it can be so bittersweet. I remember like it was yesterday when our first went off to college, dropping him off and looking back in my rear view mirror at him standing on the sidewalk was just gut wrenching. All the way home I sobbed while to listening to a Lucinda Williams CD. To this day I can’t listen to her music without it evoking sad memories. In order to compensate for the loss we soon bought a second dog (cheaper than having another child!)

Thankfully they are both doing well and the transition has mostly been made. I hate to say this, but wait until they come home for the summer after the first year away. But that is another post all together. Let’s just say it can be a little trying at times.

The point of this blog is to let our audience know that we do an excellent job with Senior Shoots.

It’s a great way to capture that last fleeting moment before the family is irrevocably changed. There are two expenditures I was so glad we made while the kids were growing up. One was family vacations and the other was, of course, professional photography of the kids and family.
Below are some samples of our Senior work. I think the images speak for themselves.

ANTRIM 1844 WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY and PORTAITS by Mark Lovett

January 9, 2013

Please enjoy some of my recent photos taken at Antrim 1844 in Taneytown, MD recently.

Antrim 1844 is a very special place and I love creating art there. It’s a beautiful venue for weddings, special events, and just a great place to create portraits.

The folks there are really friendly too and the food is incredible. I really love the scenery surrounding the old historic mansion as well.

Lisa & Steven’s Wedding at Andrews Air Force Base

We , at Mark Lovett Photography, had the pleasure to photograph Lisa Murray & Major Steven Babb’s wedding last weekend in a little white chapel at Andrews Air Force base.  Major Babb is preparing to leave for duty in Afghanistan shortly after the wedding so these were some very special moments and a beautiful celebration. I’ll try and post some more pics when I come up for air.

Portrait of DKB (Debra Katz Berkelhammer) by Mark Lovett Photography

Portrait and Headshot Photography of DKB (Debra Katz Berkelhammer)  by Mark Lovett Photography

It’s fun shooting candids (and not so candid) outdoors but when I want to keep the background in the background, focus more on the person and go for a more classic look, my studio works well. It’s a little easier to change outfits too!

Debra is a very beautiful person on the inside and the outside and I tried to bring that out in these images.  She is also very talented wedding, mitzvah and event planner in Potomac, MD and her business is DKB Distinctive Events at DKBevents.com.  Be sure and check her out if you are ever in need of these services.

I understand that Debra will be using one of these images in the bio of her new autobiographical book coming out soon.  She has an amazing story to tell about her recovery from a devastating illness. She is a true inspiration!

For you photographers out there, I enjoyed using a Nikon D800 body, a Profoto 22″ unmodified  beauty dish,  and 600R strobes.  With her coloring I am pleased with the choice of clothing and mid tone neutral background.  Debra was very fun to work with and took direction very well.

COMMERCIAL PORTRAIT OF INGRID TURNER FOR GGU MAGAZINE

September 14, 2012

EDITORIAL PORTRAIT OF INGRID TURNER FOR GGU MAGAZINE by Mark Lovett Photography at marklovettphotography.com

More to come soon, including the magazine article that is in process right now. The shots include the new Greenbelt Middle School in Greenbelt, MD because Ingrid was instrumental in obtaining the 30+ million dollars necessary to finance it.

I really enjoy creating portraits of interesting people, especially for magazine articles, and Im looking forward to seeing it. They wanted plenty of horizontal space for text which explains the crops.

I had an opportunity to put my Profoto Beauty Dish with sock and AcuteB 600r into service for these off camera strobe shots.
