Marriotts Awards for Excellence

May 21, 2013

I was totally unaware of the awards that Marriott gives out every year to some of it’s notable employees until Mark was hired to shoot their Awards of Excellence event. I was so impressed with Marriott’s work culture and the way they foster and reward good employees, which seems to be lacking in much of the corporate world. Mark and I are both Washington natives ( I know that’s rare) and I remember when Marriott started Hot Shoppes in Bethesda. It was a huge treat to go there and be waited on in the parking lot, like something out of Happy Days. And now, they are a huge conglomerate with  businesses around the globe, but yet they have been able to hang onto that family culture which attracts the best. Below are some highlights from the shoot.

Love is in the Air with Mark Lovett Photography

Breaux Vineyard Wedding by Mark Lovett Photography

Ah Spring, the time of year when our thoughts turn to romance. I think this instinct comes from the cycle of life, just like the animals and birds seek out a mate to procreate with, so humans feel the same urge. And that brings us to wedding season. The female or what is known as the bride, dances and fluffs her feathers to attract the right mate, and in return, the groom responds and before they know it, it is time to seal their Fates. And let’s face it, it goes the other way as well.

A wedding ceremony is an emotional finality that is performed before a willing and appreciative audience. Here at Mark Lovett Photography ( Bethesda wedding photographer) we love to capture the loving emotions of the day. I’ve always thought it uncanny the way Mark seems to have some sort of innate talent that enables him to capture these moments. The below images are not photojournalistic, but rather gently guided couples portraits. Mark and I know how to work with people, showing them how to hold themselves for the most flattering poses and light. Not many people know there are ways to achieve this, it’s something we have spent hundreds of hours perfecting. My next blog post will focus more on the photojournalistic aspect of our work. We try to get all forms of photography for our clients and adhere to our client’s desires.

If you go with our Studio, you may be assured of extremely high quality and professionalism. My advice would be to go with a proven commodity…Mark Lovett Photography!

What do all these images have in common? The lighting is the most important thing for an awesome image. If there is one thing Mark excels at, it is this. Usually on the way to a wedding Mark will talk my ear off about how to properly light his subjects…one can say he has an obsession with it and therein lies  one of the really big differences between an amateur and a professional. You will not see the proper lighting effect when it’s done by an amateur. I always say shooting a Wedding is like being in a war zone. There are only seconds to change settings and lighting from moment to moment, the whole timeline is in a state of flux and a photographer better know what they are doing whether it is using natural light or not.

Even if you do not hire us for your special event, please please make sure you hire someone who knows the ins and outs of their equipment! Happy Spring and please leave a comment if you so desire.

Best Regards,

Laurel Lovett

ANTRIM 1844 WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY and PORTAITS by Mark Lovett

January 9, 2013

Please enjoy some of my recent photos taken at Antrim 1844 in Taneytown, MD recently.

Antrim 1844 is a very special place and I love creating art there. It’s a beautiful venue for weddings, special events, and just a great place to create portraits.

The folks there are really friendly too and the food is incredible. I really love the scenery surrounding the old historic mansion as well.

We had a fantastic fall afternoon photographing this fun family of four recently!  We had late afternoon golden light, fall leaves, old fencing and horses at this special location in Gaithersburg, MD.    The very cute little boys, ages two and four, kept everything very candid and fresh!
