FALL FAMILY SESSION

October 25, 2012

Fall Family Photography sessions in Maryland with  Mark Lovett  Photography are really fun,  and we get some awesome images that you’ll want to keep forever!

We had a fantastic fall afternoon photographing this fun family of four recently!  We had late afternoon golden light, fall leaves, old fencing and horses at this special location in Gaithersburg, MD.    The very cute little boys, ages two and four, kept everything very candid and fresh!

Do you like that background bokeh in the below image?

We found these two little bunnies below buried in the tall grass! LOL

BETHESDA FAMILY PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

BETHESDA, MD FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION by Mark Lovett Photography at marklovettphotography.com

We recently had the opportunity to spend an hour or so photographing a very nice Bethesda, MD  family which included their grown children, spouses, grandchildren and little dog.  It was raining and rather dark when we got there so we started off indoors using some off camera strobes for our light source. After about a half hour or so the rain stopped and we went outside to take advantage of some soft outdoor light (although it was still very wet of course).

They managed to find enough nice images for us to create a really cool mini album that can easily be carried in a purse, and a few wall portraits.  Below are just a few.

FAMILY PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY – FAMILY REUNION

FAMILY PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY – FAMILY REUNION by Mark Lovett Photography at marklovettphotography.com

I recently had the opportunity to photograph a very nice large family reunion at the Normandy Farms restaurant in Potomac, MD. All the people were so warm and friendly and we really had a wonderful time for about an hour before their family dinner.  These folks came from all over the world to unite for this very rare and special occasion and it was important to get great pictures of them. Below is just a very small sampling of all the great moments that we captured.

The deer were plentiful at the same location:

There were quite a few children and grand children at this gathering. We had the opportunity to work with several of the families as well as one large grouping of about 40 people. There were three people missing so we managed to add them in later with a little cut and paste in photoshop. We ended up with a very nice 24×36 portrait of the entire family.

Family Fall Portrait Session – Amy & Chase and their two canine children

November 13, 2011

We really had a lot of fun with Amy, Chase and their two friendly dogs romping around outside on this beautiful fall day.     Most of the leaves have already fallen but the scenery is still very nice, and we captured some special moments with some sweet light.

We got creative using a mix of sun rim light, sky,  and off camera flash in a soft box to capture this family in a casual outdoor portrait photo session.

We are available for family portrait sessions outdoors,  in our studio in the Lakelands in Gaithersburg, or the location of your choice.

Just call 301-873-4701 to schedule your appointment!

Family/Children Photo Session by Bethesda & Potomac MD Portrait Photographer Mark Lovett

We shot quite  a bit of variety today……. classic portraits, fun candids, outdoor natural light, indoor window light with wide apertures, and off camera flash. They all give different looks, and I like them all. It’s nice to have variety. A lot of photographers ask what kind of flash gear we use so I’ll mention that we used a Profoto AcuteB 600R portable pack and head with a 2X3′ Profoto soft box for the off camera flash shots.

All the children were adorable.  We found the right light outdoors, with the right background,  and set the children up, and guided them a little bit.  Of course, children at this age have a mind of their own and a short attention span, so we try to make sure they are having fun and keep it moving quickly. They are pretty much moving targets and we have to be ready to catch a shot at all times.

Can you tell in which of the above shots we used natural outdoors light, indoors window light, and off camera flash? It’s three totally unique looks, and all very beautiful I think.

Sometimes kids listen to the photographer better than they listen to mommy and daddy!

Below, we had a good time shooting candids with the kids too!  We just try and find the right light and let em play.

This was getting pretty close to mid-day sun, so the lighting outside was challenging!

Oh yes, the bubble machine worked wonders!

Now we are moving inside, working with window light, and shooting wide apertures usually around f2.

Little girls do love to play dress-up!

Sometimes I prefer a black & white finish.
