This web site is dedicated to my love of photographing people and passion for creating fine art.Our Mark Lovett Photography studio is unique because we have the capability of creating stunning works of art with our photographic images.
Photography is the art of painting with light, and my background as a figurativeoil painter laid the foundation for my photography and fine art. After years of honing my craft and eventually becoming a winner of the Portrait Society of America Children’s Portrait Oil Painting competition, mypassion for creating timeless images in both photography and oil on canvas merged.
I still get goose bumps when I look at my favorite images that I created regardless if they arephotographs or oil paintings.
As an oil painter, I learned about light and shadow, as it is expressed in value, how it reveals form, what makes a strong composition, and how to tell a story.Light and shadow can describe form in a flattering or unflattering manner, and I strive to use my experience and knowledge to create images that capturenaturally posed, sensitive, artistic, images that will bring out the best in you.
While only a select few of our wealthy clients can afford to commission an oil painting that is painted by hand from a blank canvas, the vast majority need a more affordable option. To fill this void, we have developed a unique, mixed media, fine art productthat merges our photograph with oil painting.
While I could list all the awards I’ve won and the publications I’ve been printed in, I’m not sure it really matters. The most important thing is that you love the images I create for you.
I love photographing children, families and weddings, and I like to have fun with people when working. It makes all the difference in the end. It doesn’t seem like work to me. I really do have fun whether I’m creating a beautiful portrait of a child or photographing a wedding.
I don’t do it for the money only….it’s all about making people happy when I deliver the images. Many times the connection has been so strong that a mother cries in joy while looking at my images. That’s what it’s all about.
From getting ready, to seeing your future husband for the first time, through the last dance – I’m on a quest to capture the timeless moments that you’ll treasure forever. I am passionate about your day and look forward to creating images that will tell your unique story better than you’ve ever imagined!
Natural light is the most beautiful light to me, and I strive to use it as much as I can in all my work. I also love to use off camera flash or video light to create dramatic, artistic images. I keep posing to a minimum, and strive to capture a real and beautiful moment in time with soft natural light. When I do help with posing we keep it natural and loose.
I’m also very fortunate to have the finest state-of-the-art professional photography gear and digital imaging software available that allow me to capture the finest images ….. even in very low light churches!
I have a wonderful wife, Laurel, who helps me in the business and two almost grown children, three brothers, nieces and nephews. Thank God everyone is healthy and both my parents are still around. I am fortunate to have been with my wife for over 20 years, and she is a huge help to me in my photography, painting, and life in general.
I’m one of those rare natives of suburban DC, and a graduate of the University of Maryland. My great grandfather was a judge, my grandfather was an attorney, my father is an attorney and I’m an artist/photographer. Go figure!
My favorite hobby is playing guitar. I love finger picking an acoustic guitar!I used to play professionally around town for years and still teach a little bit.
That pretty much sums it up….. I could go on forever but I wont bore you anymore
My measure of success is your satisfaction and recommendation!
